Menu Planning Monday

Ok, it's been a little while since I posted our menu.  I always plan...I have just been bad about sharing. Plus, I don't have photos of all of the recipes and I really like to share when I do.  Anyhow...let me know what sounds good to you and I will try to get photos and share the recipes soon. :)

Monday- Garlic chicken with rice and broccoli (new recipe)

Tuesday- Black bean soup
Wednesday- Southwest chicken and sweet potatoes (new recipe)
Thursday- Split pea soup with homemade bread
Friday-Saturday Not sure yet...looks like we might have company so I am not sure if we will be cooking or bringing food home. :)
Sunday- Red bean, rice and sausage soup (new recipe)

New Sketch, New Layout and a Giveaway!!

Alrighty!!  It's here!  The long awaited first sketch of many more to come. I'll get to it in just a minute...but first, I want to thank those of you who are willing to help out and create layouts to go with the sketches...you guys ROCK!!!! I emailed out a few of the sketches to some of you who commented.  But if I didn't have your contact information, I couldn't send you one.  Please leave your email (disguised from bad guys like this- "yourname at emailserver dot com") if you want to get in on the sketchy action and I will send you a sketch as I have some available. 

Enough's enough.  Onto the first sketch. I hope you like it and can use it!!!

Since it was such short notice, I just have my own sample for this one.  But I can't wait to see what you all come up with using it!!!  While mine is sort of girly, you can easily use this for a boy layout with stars, or you could even change the circles to squares or another shape!! I hope you can see the little details and stitching on here...why do layouts always look better in person?? LOL (And ignore my grossly misshaped tiny stitched circle at the bottom.  Make a note to draw a circle in pencil before attemping to poke holes in the shape of one. ;)  )

Sketches ready!

I've finally taken a little time to finish a few sketches and am ready to share them.  I would love to create samples for you first though. What do you think?  Do you like samples with sketches or just the sketch? 

Here's a fun idea (well, at least I think it's fun!! LOL) Anyone interested in helping me create layout samples?  Leave me a comment and your email and I will send you a sketch to preview and create a layout!  Then I will post your layout along with mine and the sketch!

Blog changes

 From now on, I will be focusing on scrappy, crafty and cooking stuff on this blog.

My fingers got a little delete button happy on this site...bear with me as I add some things back on here and create some updated slides shows with favorite layouts in the side bar. I have lots of new scrapbook sketches in the works and have decided to share them here instead of my sketch blog (which I deleted).

I had to start fresh on here as well so please add yourself to my "followers" again so I know who you are! :)

Oven Fries-recipe

I accidentally deleted some recipe posts so I wilL try to repost when I can.  Let me know if there is a recipe I have posted but is gone now! LOL Sorry!!

Lately, we have had oven baked French fries a couple of times a week...usually to go with a veggie burger, hot dog (have you tried these?? We get the first kind listed. They are delicious and only ONE WW point each!), wrap (the Cheeseburger Chomp is yummy!!) or sandwich. The last time I made the fries (using a slightly different technique than usual), Jeremy said they were as good as fast food fries! Maybe I have deprived him of deep fried foods for too long (LOL) or maybe it was the cool fast food looking baskets I served them in. Whatever the case, there's a new little trick I learned to make them crispy on the outside. I hope you try them out for a healthier fry alternative!

Oven French Fries
Potatoes (4-5)
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
cold water
4 tsp oil (I use olive oil)
1 tsp paprika
extra salt

Directions:
1. Peel and cut potatoes into 1/2 inch thick strips.
2. Soak in a mixture of 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp sugar and cold water for 15 minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
4. Drain potatoes and toss with oil and paprika.
5. Spread potatoes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for about 35-45 minutes or until crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Sprinkle with a little extra salt and enjoy! (Cute baskets optional. LOL)
