Here's a new card I made using a sketch I posted at http://feelingscrappyclasses.blogspot.com/2009/05/new-card-sketch.html If you use the sketch, I'd love to see it!

A merge and some camping photos
Well, I haven't been very good at keeping up with both of my blogs (this one and my family one) so I think I'll be merging the two together. I think putting everything here will work out better anyhow. (Plus, I think the younger members of the family might eventually be jealous that the other blog was named after Joshua!! LOL) Since this is "Scraps of My Life," you'll see a variety of posts about things that interest me...mostly my family, scrapbooking, crafts, and cooking.
For you scrappers, I have a new sketch coming this Friday on the Feeling Scrappy blog.
To kick off the merge of this site with my family blog, here are a few photos from our first camping trip of the year. We stayed in Bryce Canyon National Park and while the weather was less than ideal (mostly rainy!), we had a nice time.
Besides the scenery, we enjoyed the campfire, visiting with my parents (who met us at our campsite), playing, coloring, and taking little walks. The kiddos loved walking around, finding pine cones and other goodies and just basically being outside. (Ok, and looking for "deer poop" as Abby can now tell you...well, it sounds more like "dee poo.")
(Christine, I am sure you'll laugh about this!!) I have a list of campfire cooking ideas I want to try. This was an easy one that we'll definitely do again-"Hobo Popcorn." It was super easy and really good.
In the center of a 12" x12" square of Heavy Duty foil, add a TBS of oil (I used canola) and a TBS of popcorn kernels. Bring the corners up to twist together on the end of a stick and hold over the fire. When it starts to pop, shake it up a bit to keep from burning it. My pouch turned out perfectly but Jer got a little antsy with his, stuck it straight into the fire and burnt most of it. Carefully open it up and add some butter, salt or whatever else you like. Next time, I am determined to try biscuits on a stick. I started to cook one this trip but it started pouring on us right as I stuck it over the fire.
Of course, the morning we left, it was beautiful and sunny!

NSD layouts
Here are two layouts I made a couple of weeks ago for the NSD crop at Scrap 4 Life. (I made a few other layouts but these were my favorites of the bunch.) We had company that weekend (my baby sister turned 30!) So I only had a couple of hours to crop after the weekend fun was over. But it was nice to get caught up a little in Joshua's album. Pretty soon, I'll have a 4th album to work on as well!! (I have a family set then one set for each child.) Lots of scrapping ahead of me! :)
